I just saw this at the Tribeca Film Festival and I have to say that the movie wasn't all too bad. It was very formulaic and predictable, but still entertaining to a decent degree. It's take on vampires was slightly different, in that the vampires don't have fangs or have a weakness to sunlight, they just kill and drink blood. For a low budget movie that will probably go straight to DVD here in the US, it will be worth a rental - especially in that Lucy Liu bares her boobage in numerous scenes.

It does properly what it is supposed to do, that is nothing but scare the audience. Not a revolutionary story but decently acted, "Prey" is in my opinion worth the ticket cost and offers enough thrills to make the plot passable. So it's nothing special but watchable and well shot on the whole, since things move quickly along and action scenes are not as silly as the ones in other "Animals attack movies"; too obvious and predictable at times (viewers probably know from the beginning who will survive and who won't) this work is essentially similar to "Cujo" but with lions instead of dogs and plus it gets to supply some genuine suspense and solid scares. I have to say that this film caught me by complete surprise. I expected it to be a typical "Hostel" kind of horror movie. But the opposite was the case. Rohtenburg is an incredible shot film that draws you into a personal story and guides you slowly into the darkness of a disturbed mind. Against all odds i was pleasantly surprised about this film. I do understand though that this film will raise a lot of controversy and have people not understand it or love or hate it. This film has no grey area, it is hate or love for sure, since it doesn't slumber through the mediocre horror genre formulas and has very little blood for the die hard horror fans. It works on a psychological level and goes way deeper than i expected, actually giving me sleep trouble for two nights.
